South By Southwest (SXSW) happens March 8th through the 17th, 2019 in Austin, Texas. Though this seems far off to start planning there are several updates and deadlines to pay attention to before you attend or participate. Below are the recent updates and deadlines for SXSW 2019.
SXSW Registration and SXSW Housing and Travel:
SXSW Registration and SXSW Housing and Travel opens on August 1, 2018th, below are the badge pricing along with pricing deadlines. 
Early registrants benefit from discounted rates, which expire at 11:59pm PT on the deadlines above. I suggest buying SXSW 2019 badges sooner than later as they go up in price as the festival comes closer to opening day. Enrolled high school, college, and university students may purchase a discounted SXSW Interactive Badge, SXSW Film Badge, or SXSW Music Badge. Music Festival showcase applications are open now! If your musical project is ready you need to apply now, no time like the present. The rate is still only $35 until September 13. To apply for the showcase please visit: https://www.sxsw.com/apply-to-participate/showcase-applications/.
The SXSW Film is open for Early Submission and the deadline is on August 23. Before you submit, be sure to take a look at their guidelines to ensure your film is eligible for SXSW and check out the Film Submissions page for deadlines and fees located here: https://www.sxsw.com/apply-to-participate/film-submissions/.
SXSW 2019 Interactive Innovation Awards:
The Interactive Innovation Awards will explore 2018’s innovative digital projects at the Finalist Showcase on Saturday, March 9, followed by the Interactive Innovation Awards ceremony on Monday, March 11.
