Michelle Obama & Craig Robinson Announced as Additions to SXSW 2025 Featured Session

Michelle Obama made her first SXSW appearance in 2016 with a Keynote and Panel empowering women. The former First Lady of the United States is returning to SXSW with her brother Craig Robinson for a Featured Session on Thursday, March 13 at 1pm CT.

Michelle’s storytelling has achieved global acclaim, breaking sales records and earning numerous awards. Her memoir Becoming remained on the New York Times Bestsellers list for over 130 weeks, selling more than 17 million copies and winning a Grammy. American Factory, produced by Higher Ground, won the 2020 Academy Award for Best Documentary. That same year, The Michelle Obama Podcast became Spotify’s most successful original, attracting a significant audience of women over 40.

Through the Obama Foundation, she launched the Girls Opportunity Alliance to champion global education and empowerment for adolescent girls. As Co-Founder and Strategic Partner of PLEZi Nutrition, she helps steer the company’s mission to inspire healthier food and beverage choices for the next generation.

Making it’s debut in December 2025, OVERCOMING. Craig is the Executive Director of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and host of the Higher Ground podcast Ways To Win. From 2017-2020, he served as the vice president of Player Development and Minor League Operations for the NBA’s New York Knicks. Previously, he was a Division I head men’s basketball coach at Oregon State and Brown, and spent more than a decade working as a trader in the investment banking industry.

SXSW has also recently added additional Keynote and Featured Speakers to the Conference lineup, including Tom Morello, Bryan Johnson, Lars Ulrich, Ben Stiller, Eddy Cue, Holly Herndon, Zane Lowe, Ayanna Pressley, Priscilla Chan, Shreya Murthy, Sir Tim Berners-Lee, and Robert Rodriguez.
