On Tuesday, March 11, 2025, Iceland Airwaves, an immersive, multi-genre music festival held in Iceland, will make its debut at SXSW (South by Southwest) 2025 with an official music showcase at Shangri-La. Hot off the stage from their performances this past November, Icelandic artists Elín Hall, Sunna Margrét, Superserious and Lúpína is set to perform at the official SXSW showcase.

Elín Hall

Elín Hall is establishing herself as a compelling new voice in the indie music scene. Nominated for Album of the Year and Vocalist of the Year at the Icelandic Music Awards, Elín invites listeners into a world of raw emotion and atmospheric soundscapes with her music. Elín has also earned acclaim for her acting, with two Best Actress nominations at the Icelandic Film and TV Awards. Her lead role in “When the Light Breaks,” which premiered in Un Certain Regard at Cannes this spring, won her Best Actress at the 2024 Chicago International Film Festival.

Sunna Margrét

Sunna blends reinvented trip-hop with spacey, hypnotic rhythms, earning praise from Paste Magazine, Electronic Sound, and The Line of Best Fit. Her standout performances at The Great Escape, Iceland Airwaves, and a recent KEXP session have solidified her reputation as a must-see artist. With an expanded full-band live setup and growing international acclaim, Sunna Margrét is poised to make waves at Eurosonic and SXSW in 2025.

Lúpína

Seamlessly blending Icelandic lyricism with Scandi pop and global influences, Lúpína’s music is redefining the boundaries of pop, earning her accolades like the 2024 Reykjavík Grapevine Song of the Year Award, the IA Plus Award which includes a grant and performance slot at both Mad Cool and New Colossus, and a performance slot at SXSW 2025. With past performances ranging from Iceland Airwaves to KEXP and a growing list of international gigs, Lúpína is carving out her place as a leading voice in Icelandic music with an otherworldly, cinematic sound.

Superserious

Following the success of their debut EP “Let’s Get Serious” and their 2024 LP “Seriously?,” produced with Arnar Guðjónsson, Superserious has become a staple band for Icelandic radio. With new music in the works and performances scheduled at major festivals like Eurosonic and SXSW 2025, the band is solidifying their place as one of Iceland’s most exciting rising acts.
