Día de los Muertos, aka Day of the Dead, is a Spanish holiday on which family and friends gather to remember and celebrate friends and family members who have died. On November 1, 2024, the Moody Amphitheater at Waterloo Park will host a Día de los Muertos celebration with live music and dance, community altars, Calavera face painting, live art, themed cocktails, local Latinx artisan vendors, and more!

The Día de los Muertos at Moody Amphitheater at Waterloo Park will run from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, with music starting promptly at 6 p.m. Throughout the event, there will be pauses to offer brief periods of quiet reflection to honor and remember deceased loved ones. Community Ofrenda supported by LALO Tequila

Ofrendas are colorful altars or offerings used to commemorate the Day of the Dead, or Día de los Muertos, in Mexico. In honor of Día de los Muertos, Jose Arrieta Hinojos (Teocochitl Designs) will transform the Moody Amphitheater stage into a community “ofrenda,” or altar, where visitors are invited to place images and decorations that honor their families and friends who have passed.

Alebrije Altar supported by Love, Tito’s

“Alebrijes” are spirit guides that are represented in Mexican folk art as vibrant, fantastical creatures that often resemble dragons, lizards and other mystical creatures. Inspired by the spirit of DogJo, Love, Tito’s invites visitors to remember their own beloved companions on a special pet altar. Designed by artist Ernest Ramirez.
